What great fun it is for writers to attend and take part in a book fair! It was my first time as an author.
I shared a table with 3 fellow authors, whom I had met over social networking and thoroughly enjoyed the day with them. Great support, great help and great company:
Elisabeth Marrion: Her book The Night I danced with Rommel found much attention and interest. Her story is based on facts of her mother meeting Field Marshal Rommel while opening the Grande Ball held in his honour.
DJ Kelly: Her novel Running with Crows is a well researched story about the only member of theBritish Crown Forces to be executed for murder during the Irish War of Independence. Until this book, I had never heard of the ‘Black and Tans’ and the RIC, Royal Irish Constabulary. An intriguing story!
Last but not least, the wonderful Christoph Fischer , whose book ‘The Luck of the Weissensteiners’ I had read and reviewed previously , introduced his new book ‘Ludowika’, which I am reading at the moment. In due time, I will write my reviews of all the above books which I received from the authors in exchange for my own books, ‘HEXE’ and ‘Malin and the Wolf Children’.
The conclusion based on my experience on that day is that book fairs are a great opportunity to meet other fellow authors and exchange ideas and views, to connect with readers of different genres and, of course, to sell some books. The latter, in my personal opinion, is secondary.
At this point I would like to express my gratitude to Christoph Fischer, Elisabeth Marrion and DJ Kelly for sharing this day with me and make it an unforgettable experience. I’ve already entered myself to attend the Manchester Author Event 2016.
I’ll see you there! 🙂
